Membership Types

Professional Member: Science professionals or other individuals with a strong interest in Academy goals. These members have voting rights, pay reduced registration at IAS events, receive IAS publications and emails and may serve in elected office.

The Professional Member category also includes Fellows, Distinguished Fellows, Emeritus, Emeritus Fellow, Lifetime Fellow, Lifetime Member. Lifetime members have a paid up membership. Emeritus members are retired with at least 15 years of continuous IAS membership. Contact the IAS office more details.

General Membership: Individuals with an interest in science and the goals of the Iowa Academy of Science and science is an avocation. These members pay a reduced rate to attend IAS events, receive IAS publications and emails but may not serve in elected office. This membership is not for science or science education professionals.

Student Members: Full-time graduate or undergraduate students at an institution of higher learning.

New Professional Members must have not been a member of the Academy during the past 3 years.

General Members pay 50% of the standard Professional Member rate, receive IAS publications, mailings, emails, but do not have access to the Members Only section of the website. General Members pay a reduced rate at IAS events. They do not have voting rights and cannot hold elected office or serve on committees.

Professional Member - $70.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments Professional Members work as science professionals. Examples include faculty in science or science-related fields, science teachers, or other science professionals working in science careers. Professional members pay full dues, receive IAS publications, mailings, emails, and have access to the Members Only section of the website. They pay a reduced rate at IAS events. Professional Members have voting rights and may serve in elected office and on committees.

Student - $35.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments Student members must be currently enrolled full-time in an institution of higher learning. Student members may be asked to provide proof of full-time status.
